THE RULES!

ONE FRAME OF WHITE:

  • It's simple: Come up with the most amazing idea you can think of and create it in Flame - using only ONE FRAME OF WHITE as your starting point. YOU CANNOT IMPORT IN ANY FOOTAGE, 3D MODELS, etc. All content has to be generated inside Flame.

  • Any fonts that you use must be included with your submission.

  • You can use any of the tools in Flame, including the default 3D models, plus Sapphire Plugins, the built-in Matchbox shaders and the LOGIK Matchbox collection. You cannot write custom a Matchbox shader for your entry. The LOGIK Matchbox collection is available at https://logik-matchbook.org/.

  • Your work must be done in one Batch Group or in multiple BFX segments on a single timeline.

  • Audio is optional, meaning that it won't be considered in the judging. Please do not use copyrighted audio.

  • Your entry can not be longer than 20 seconds.

  • The theme this year is the Original 1999 OFoW contest. You need to pick one (or more) of the original entries as an inspiration. How you interpret it is entirely up to you. When you submit your entry you need to declare which of the 1999 entrie(s) you are referencing.

  • The contest starts NOW! REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Entries are due by 11:59:59pm EST on July 7, 2019.

YOU’VE GOT TO BE KIDDING:

  • Choose one of the provided spots, either “Did You See That” or “Future Track”.

  • Finish the following statement: “We were supposed to work on a spot about ______________________, but then the client changed their mind, and now they want the spot to be about _________________________________.” This “mission statement” must be submitted with your entry.

  • Download the provided elements, and use all of your Flame skills to produce the best final product.

  • All compositing work must be done in Flame. This includes but is not limited to: Conforming, Compositing, Grading, Roto, Paint, Retouch, etc. In other words, the only app you can use to manipulate the images in this project is Flame.

  • No pre-rendered CG assets. You can bring in 3D models from other sources, including stock models. They can include embedded textures and animation. All rendering must be done in Flame.

  • About Stock Footage and Images: We’ve provided some fantastic stock clips, courtesy of ActionVFX.com. They have even more free video and sound effects that you can download from their site (registration on their site is required). If you use other stock elements, it is up to you to obtain the necessary rights. You will need to provide a list of all of the stock elements used with your submission.

  • You will need to submit two .mov files of your project: A 1920x1080 h.264 and a 1920x1080 Prores 422HQ.

  • You will also need to submit a Flame archive. Please do everything you can to make the archive as small as possible. For example, preserve the folder structure of the elements that we provide, and import them as links. For the archive you submit, please delete unused media, delete unnecessary Batch iterations, consolidate all handles, etc. Also un-render your timeline and unlink the original source media.

  • Audio is optional, meaning that it won't be considered in the judging. Please do not use copyrighted audio.

  • The contest starts NOW! REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Entries are due by 11:59:59pm EST on July 7, 2019.
